Why TikTok Ad Accounts Get Suspended, and How the Appeal Actually Works

July 26, 2026 8 min read ADoky Team

Suspensions rarely arrive as a surprise to the platform, only to the advertiser. Most are triggered by something specific and identifiable, and most are recoverable — provided you understand the clock you are on and avoid the one action that closes the door permanently.

What actually triggers it

Landing page changed after approval

This is the one that catches legitimate advertisers most often. TikTok reviews the destination when it reviews the ad. Swap the page afterwards, redirect it elsewhere, or change the offer behind the same URL, and the system reads it as a bait-and-switch — which is exactly what the rule exists to catch.

Editing copy or design on an approved page is fine. Changing what is being offered, adding a redirect, or repurposing the URL for a different campaign is not.

Claims the creative cannot support

Income figures, earnings screenshots, guaranteed outcomes, before-and-after health imagery, "doctors hate this" framing. TikTok is stricter than most platforms here, and enforcement is largely automated, which means nuance does not help you.

Intellectual property

Music without rights, brand logos you do not own, footage lifted from someone else's ad. Rights holders report proactively, and IP complaints escalate faster than most other categories.

Prohibited or restricted categories

Some categories are banned outright, others need certification you may not have. Financial services, supplements, medical devices, weight loss, gambling and dating all carry restrictions that vary by country. Running a restricted vertical without the right documentation is a suspension waiting to happen.

Suspicious behaviour during setup

Rapid account creation from one device, a new payment method appearing immediately after registration, logging in from many countries in a short window, patterns that resemble account farming. Nothing here needs to involve an actual violation — the pattern alone is enough.

Reports from users also count

Complaints about your ads from ordinary viewers feed into the same system. An aggressive creative that generates a wave of "misleading" reports can suspend an account that never broke a written rule.

The two clocks running against you

Once suspended, two separate deadlines start, and confusing them is expensive.

WindowWhat it means
30 daysOn a first violation, the time you have to fix the underlying problem or submit an appeal. Let it pass without action and the suspension becomes permanent.
180 daysThe outer limit for filing a formal appeal from the suspension date. Useful to know, but treating it as your real deadline is a mistake — the 30-day window is the one that decides.
2 business daysTypical response time on an appeal ticket.

How to file the appeal

  1. Log into TikTok Ads Manager with the suspended account
  2. Open Help → Submit Ticket
  3. Choose Account Suspension Appeal
  4. State what you believe triggered it and what you changed
  5. Attach evidence: business registration, product documentation, certification for restricted categories, screenshots of the corrected landing page

Appeals that read as "I don't know what happened, please unblock me" tend to fail. Appeals that identify a probable cause and show it has been fixed tend to succeed, because they give the reviewer something to approve rather than something to judge.

The mistake that ends it

Do not register a new ad account while an appeal is pending. TikTok explicitly warns that doing so affects the assessment of the existing case — and it can put the new account at risk too. Wait for the decision.

Reducing the damage before it happens

You cannot make suspensions impossible. You can make them survivable.

  • Never change a landing page behind a running campaign. New offer, new URL, new campaign.
  • Keep documentation ready for any restricted vertical, before you need it rather than after.
  • Keep spend spread across accounts so a single suspension does not stop everything at once.
  • Read the rejection reasons on individual ads. Repeated rejections are a warning shot; accounts usually get suspended after the pattern is ignored, not on the first offence.
  • Keep the business entity clean and consistent — matching name, address and payment details across the account speed appeals up considerably.

If the account is gone for good

A permanent suspension is not the end of advertising on TikTok, but starting again from the same device, payment method and business details usually reproduces the same outcome. A genuinely fresh start means a new legal entity, new billing and a clean environment — and if the original suspension was caused by the offer itself, none of that will help. Fix the cause first.

When you rebuild, rebuild fast

Recreating a full campaign structure by hand after an account loss costs a day you do not have. ADoky rebuilds hundreds of ads from a saved template in about two minutes — same setups, new account, no manual re-entry.

The short version

  • Landing page changes after approval are the most common avoidable cause
  • You have 30 days from a first violation, not 180 — act inside that window
  • Appeal through Help → Submit Ticket → Account Suspension Appeal
  • Name a probable cause and show the fix; vague appeals fail
  • Never open a new account while an appeal is open
